Applied Automation Using Embedded Technology

5min

Introduction

In the previous compilation, we considered the basics related to PIC Microcontrollers and advanced considerations and topics. For an embedded system to be useful, beyond just activating a single I/O or reading an analog input, the microcontroller peripherals would work in unison, integrate with the outside world, and carry out pre-assigned tasks.

The SCALAE and ESCA range of PLC-styled units are based around a PIC Microcontroller and engineered to be used in automation projects.

Automation Products

HavenTechnik's product range includes various types of automation modules. The range includes units for general purposes and others that cater to specific applications.

General Purpose

  • Scalae AUTO: A general-purpose platform for general-purpose automation projects. The unit is covered in marketing-level detail here: SCALAE AUTO๏ปฟ๏ปฟ

Specific Applications

  • ESCA - AQUA: This unit targets water reservoir monitoring applications. See here: ESCA๏ปฟ๏ปฟ

Picaro: This unit is designed for temperature control and monitoring applications, and is Arduino-based.

Getting Started

Getting started with automation projects is much the same as with the PIC Microcontroller. In this compilation, we will build on your previous knowledge and expand on what you have learned to apply it to an automation system or application.
