When reviewing an application from a design perspective, a 48PIN device did offer an interesting middle ground between a 40 pin and a 64 pin device. However, considering that the cost benefit of selecting a 64 PIN device and the advantages it offered, the 48 pin is a novel idea but not practical.

There are also very few of these 48 PIN devices in the Microchip range, meaning that if a specific peripheral were needed, it would most likely be availale in a 40 or 64 pin.

All things considered, we have decided to concentrate on devices where there are more options, and more scope for development. Owing to this, once the current stocks are depleted, the PCB will no longer be available.
