RADIX NANO Series

4min

The RADIX NANO series caters to devices in the 8, 14, 18, 20, and 28 PIN devices. The variants are differentiated as follows:

  • The "A" variant is for the SMD (Surface Mount Device), and you select the device on checkout
  • The "B" Variant is for the DIP (Dual In-Line Package), you can choose a device or purchase the PCB with no device.

We do supply PCBs that have not been populated, and since our PCBs are proprietary we do not supply the GERBERS for personal manufacturing.

Understanding the Device Package

PIC Microcontrollers are grouped into different families, and each family depends on the features and scope of the family with having its devices available in a package. The Package has a set number of PINs and that is what is referred to by the e.g. 18 PIN Package.

The number of physical pins does have a bearing on the available IO but does not always restrict where and how the device can be used. More modern devices do have shared peripherals per pin, as well as PIN remapping and these features enable the software developer to make the most out of a particular device and use it to its full potential.

Nano Differentiation

  • The RADIX - NANO 18๏ปฟ supports devices in the 18PIN 16Fxx and 18Fxx devices
  • The RADIX - NANO 20๏ปฟ supports devices in the 8 PIN, 14 PIN, and 20 PIN 16Fxxx and 18Fxxx families
  • The RADIX - NANO 28๏ปฟ supports devices in the 18PIN 16Fxx and 18Fxx devices

While there is a high degree of compatibility between the families, when using the DIP version of the NANO PCB, ensure that you have chosen a PIC fully compatible with the layout of the PCB.
