Actuate Relay (AQ)
The AQ series adds an additional feature of integrating a fuse with one of the relay channels. In the case of the AQ, the NO(Normally Open) side of the relay includes a blade fuse. When the relay is actuated, the NO side closes, and this action is fused, protecting both the equipment and the relay.
This ensures the following:
- The rated current value of the normally open is not exceeded
- If the device powered by the relay actuation has a higher current demand, the fuse will protect the relay and the device.
- The relay's contacts are protected by the integrated fuse.
Use Applications
This I/O Board is particularly designed to function from a 12Vdc power source, which makes it ideal for automotive applications. Whether installing a new item of equipment in your vehicle or using it in a camping/outdoors application, the ACTUATE offers a reliable actutator junction to enable or disable devices.
PCB Layout
The PCB layout is displayed below and illustrates the connection points. The relays are driven from the relay inputs, and this actuates the relay, closing the contact.

Normally Open Contact with Integrated Fuse
The corresponding relay input channel actuates the corresponding relay output. By supplying 12VDC at the input contact actuates the relay.
Fuse Blow Indicator
The fuse blow indicator is an LED that is connected in parallel with the NO contact track. If the fuse is not present or blown, the LED will illuminate.

The blade fuse is the same fuse that is used in automobiles, and these fuses are readily available and common to many transport applications.
